In My Mailbox Monday

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren.

It's Monday. The weekend flew by so quickly. But I had a nice smooth weekend. My youngest and I spent some time at the library. She found some great books, and I bought some great books from the library store. Win-win.

So here's what I have today:

Bought from Amazon.com in Paperback

Sisters and Lovers by Connie Briscoe

For Kindle on iPad.

Bought from Library:

  1. I bought Neuromancer by William Gibson and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick at the Univ. of Arkansas Little Rock bookstore.

They were both on a list of top SciFi books of all time and I hadn't read either one.

  2. I've ordered Eunoia by Christian Bok & also a Kindle. I've Cormac McCarthy's The Road on my Shelf & read Hemingway a few years ago. Also Hank's books by Gibson is a Cyberpunk classic & good read & if he enjoys it try The Difference Engine by Gibson & Bruce Sterling.

  3. I didn't bought a few books old Julie Garwood's and Brenda Joyce books from our used bookstore. I also got Sohpie's Choice by Georgette Heyer for my Nook for 1.99! YAY!

I remember reading How Stella Got Her Groove Back a long time ago! I really liked it because the style was a little different.

  4. I'm a bit jealous that you got these great books from the library. Our library doesn't do sales anymore, and it's such a pity.

  5. I read A Day Late & A Dollar Short several years ago and quite enjoyed it. I loved the story being told from different points of view.

  6. I hope you enjoy your books. Toni Morrison was at the National Book Festival in DC this year, but I missed her. I really enjoyed The Road, but beware there are no quotation marks and no names (that I can recall)

  7. I see everyone got some good books this week as well. I will have to look into those books Hank and Parrish Lantern. I have really wanted to read some sci-fi lately, but didn't see any great recommendations.

Jade, I going to get Sophie's Choice on Nook as soon as I'm done. I had the book awhile back and never read it, but now can't find it. :-( The movie was heartbreaking, so I sorta put it off, but now that's it's $1.99 I can't beat that.

@ Leeswammes, I love our library bookstore. If it wasn't for that store, I wouldn't have hardly any books. It's addictive when everything is so cheap.

@Debbie, I loved it too. This is my third copy on my bookshelf. I hate to see a good book just sitting on the shelf, so I buy them and just give them away or let them sit next to their siblings on my shelf, til I find them a home in a giveaway or friends house. :-)

@Serena, I would loved, loved, loved to have seen Toni Morrison. She is on my top 3 list of people I must see. Toni Morrison, Maya Angelou and Oprah. I can't imagine what I would've said. Just thinking about it makes me excited.

Thanks for stopping by everyone. Til we meet again....hopefully that's tomorrow. :-D

  9. Dob't read The Road if you're in a down mood. It is a pretty depressing book.
