Life's A Beach by Claire Cook

Available Free at Amazon, click HERE for the Limited Edition, Kindle version. Available for Free at Barnes and Noble, click HERE for the Nook version. Available at Sony, click HERE. Also Free at Kobo, click HERE. Hardcover price is $23.95, what a savings!

Product Details: Sony

When Must Love Dogs was published, the Chicago Tribune called it "pitch-perfect" and the Washington Post declared, "Readers will hope that Claire Cook will be telling breezy summer stories from the South Shore of Massachusetts for seasons to come."

Life's a bit of a beach these days for Ginger Walsh, who's single at forty-one and living back home in the family FROG (Finished Room Over Garage). She's hoping for a more fulfilling life as a sea glass artist, but instead is babysitting her sister's kids and sharing overnights with Noah, her sexy artist boyfriend with commitment issues and a dog Ginger's cat isn't too crazy about. Geri, her BlackBerry-obsessed sister, is also nearly over the deep end about her pending fiftieth birthday (and might just drag Ginger with her). Toss in a dumpster-picking father, a Kama Sutra T-shirt-wearing mother, a movie crew come to town with a very cute gaffer, an on-again-off-again glassblower boyfriend, plus a couple of Red Hat realtors, and hilarity ensues. The perfect summer read, Life's a Beach is a warm, witty, and wise look at what it takes to move forward at any stage in life.

Dating Mr. December by Phillipa Ashley

Available Free at Amazon. Click HERE for Kindle version. Free at Barnes and Noble, click HERE for Nook version. Click HERE for the Sony version. For the Kobo version, click HERE.

Product Description: Publishers Weekly

British author Ashley infuses her debut (first published in the U.K. in 2006, and the inspiration for Lifetime TV's 2009 movie 12 Men of Christmas) with humor that somewhat offsets the formulaic tale of a woman retreating from urban life after being betrayed by her boyfriend and her boss. In England's Lake District, PR executive Emma Tremayne tries to help a local mountain rescue group stay solvent by creating a nude calendar featuring the rescuers. Will Tennant is the most reluctant model, and the most attractive. Emma needs him to agree to pose as Mr. December for the sake of the fund-raiser--and to show she can handle her new job. Emma and Will are clearly destined for each other, so their relationship and inevitable obstacles lack suspense, but readers will enjoy the breezy style and repartee.

They Almost Always Come Home by Cynthia Ruchti

Available for FREE at Barnes and Noble. Click HERE to download this for Nook Book. Also available for FREE for Kindle at Amazon, click HERE.

Product Description: Publishers Weekly

In Ruchti's debut faith-based novel, Libby and Greg's marriage is sputtering in the wake of their daughter's death. Libby's thinking about leaving—until she's faced with the prospect of becoming a widow when Greg fails to return from a solo trip to the Canadian wilderness. As Libby, her best friend Jen, and father-in-law Frank go after Greg to bring him back or learn his fate, Libby also learns about herself, family, and faith. It's a great premise, and Ruchti has enough energy to make the suspense last for just about the whole book, even as she unpacks the marriage troubles in the background and the character interplay among the searchers in the foreground. A lot of readers will like Libby, who is flawed enough to be humble and teachable; a few might find her brittle and defensive wit (rocks with bad toupees of lichen) a little much. Libby's friend Jen, however, is improbably saintly. Crisp dialogue propels the story forward unobtrusively. Ruchti shows imagination and promise.

Inherited Danger by Brian Rathbone

Available Free on Amazon. Click HERE for Kindle version. Free at Barnes and Noble, click HERE for Nook version.

Product Details: Amazon Review (Linda)

Legend says that a Herald will be born who will save the land of Godfist from invaders. This Herald will fight for their freedom. To some it is only a legend but to others it is a prophecy, waiting to be fulfilled. The Zjhon are ancient enemies and are planning an attack but no one takes heed of these warnings until it is too late. Now it is up to the Herald to save them. The question is... will the Herald realize her destiny in time to save Godfist?

But that's not all...the Zjhon believe in the prophecy and have given the order to search for the Herald and do away with her. This is an intriguing fantasy and is hard to put down. The description of scenery is so well written that I could imagine it in my mind. The characters are believable and well developed. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The Dawning of Power is a trilogy, which includes Call of the Herald, Inherited Danger, and Dragon Ore. I would recommend this book for all ages.

DeBarrie's Stationery Store needed help again. Somehow, the part-time people never worked out. It was a problem. One after another, the part-time people came and went, and sometimes, nobody ever found out what happened to them. The newest one seemed even more hopeless than usual. His job application announced "there's a man who follows me around and ruins everything I try to do".

Cotillion by Georgette Heyer

Available for Free at Amazon, click HERE for Kindle version. Available for Free at Barnes and Noble, click HERE for the Nook version. Click HERE for Sony version. Click HERE for Kobo version.

Product Details: Library Journal

Miss Catherine Charing is in a difficult situation. Her irascible and eccentric guardian, Mr. Matthew Penicuik, will bestow his entire fortune on her only if she will marry one of his great-nephews, not a choice lot. The Rev. Hugh Rattney is a self-righteous prig; Capt. Claud Rattney is a well-known rake; Lord Dolphinton is none too bright and frightened to death of his Mama; the Honorable Frederick Standon is a useless fribble; and Kitty's hero, Capt. Jack Westruther, resisting Uncle Matthew's tyrannical ways, has refused to even show up. If Kitty does not accept one of them, she will be penniless and homeless. Driven to folly by these circumstances, she attempts to flee to London to find a position as a governess. Heyer's characterizations are at their sharpest as her people change and grow in unexpected directions. The book is a joy to listen to, as Phyllida Nash manages to keep the complicated cast of characters both separate and equal. Highly recommended for all public library collections where romance or the author's works are popular

Her behavior has already cost her one job, so when she's offered the lofty position of companion to Phoebe, a debutante recently engaged to Lord Vincent, she accepts, despite having no experience. Lord Vincent is a man of science with his automatons and inventions, but Finley is suspicious of his motives where Phoebe is concerned. She will do anything to protect her new friend, but what she discovers is even more monstrous than anything she could have imagined...

  1. Thanks, Lena! I downloaded the first one, Life's a Beach, which sounds like ideal summer read.

As I don't have an ebook and I will have to read this on my laptop (kindle for PC), I didn't download any others. But I was tempted.

Or maybe I should download it so I've got these books already when I DO get an ebook? Hmm!

    Thanks anyway!

  14. What a great feature, Lena! I really appreciate how you share a synopsis for each one. Sometimes I get the emails from Amazon for books that free or a low price, but I get overwhelmed by all the titles and no synopses.

I just downloaded a few of these on to my Kindle. I look forward to checking them out. :)
