Another quick confession, I have tons of books I have never finished reading. *gasp* I will be exploring that topic next week, so in the meantime think of some reasons why you didn't finish reading a particular book.
My last confession for today, I have in the past, bought the same book twice before reading the first copy I purchased. Awww c'mon, I know you have done it. Walked into a bookstore, saw the book on the shelf and said, "this looks like a great book, I think I'll buy it." Then you take it home, it collects dust on the bookshelf. Then you visit the bookstore again and low and behold, "there's a book I think I'd enjoy. I think I'll buy it." You get home and darn it, you already have it. It looks so appealing because you didn't read the first one yet. So because, I don't have the memory of an elephant to keep remembering what I've bought, I'm going to give away some of the extra copies of books I have on my bookshelf.
The following books will be given away to the person that makes the most comments during the week on my blog. You can post on different topics or the same topics. The only catch is, it can't be mundane or spam type comments. And atleast one sentence. The giveaway will end Sunday, April 17, 2011 at midnight.

Here's my Reader's Confession... I sometimes mix storylines together and by "sometimes" I mean "often". I'll be like, 'Yeah, I read that book about the guy who was hunting the whale and his sister was a witch who was in love with a slave from Mississippi.' I hate when I do that but it happens.
ReplyDeleteHow funny, I have done that before as well. Confuse storylines and even titles....basically making up a title. If the book really resonates with me, I will usually remember all the details. Thank you for commenting Localsmithy. Let us know the summary of the next book you read, just hearing you sum it up, might actally make for a great book. A whale, a witch and slave. Interesting.. I'd read it. :-)
ReplyDeleteI confess that I don't read nearly as many books as I used to (too busy WRITING books, a blog, and managing online businesses!). I just finished the first few pages of Tyrese's new book, "How to Get Out of Your Own Way." It's good and feels like it'll get even better.
ReplyDeleteSince pursuing my writing career full-time, I haven't had a chance to read as often as I used to. At the moment, I have a ton of books collecting dust that I promise to get to, somewhere in the middle of the summer. I love writing but I also miss reading. They go hand in hand.

ReplyDelete@RGG,I totally agree with you. Writing and reading go hand in hand. I find I'm more creative when I read often. I am a stronger writer when I'm reading great books, it's like have a tutor and a muse all at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI have never purchsed a book twice but definite have won books i already had so i give them away as gifts to other readers. I must confess that i just started back to reading authors other than african americans. Had not read one novel outside of my cultural since 19?? well, its been about 15 to 20 years, DARRRRNNN.
